Crosslink EMPAC™
Tunable Work Function
Work function—a scientific property important when considering chemical interactions—plays a dominant role in how conductive polymers cooperate with the metal oxides they coat on capacitor anodes. Metals have a fixed work function, but the polyaniline used in Crosslink EMPAC™ has a tunable work function that can be adjusted according to the needs of individual capacitor manufacturers.
Performance parameters such as the equivalent series resistance (ESR) and leakage current should benefit from a work function that is tunable. In addition to these improvements in overall stability for tantalum capacitors, Crosslink EMPAC may prove to be an excellent replacement coating for niobium and aluminum capacitors, where the use of PEDOT has been problematic. |
